Transparent/ Clear Resin Plastic (SLA)

Transparent resin plastic is sometimes referred to as clear resin. It is one of the types of plastic that is clear or translucent, enabling light to pass through it. The process for creating this plastic involves combining a liquid resin with a hardener, which allows the resin to solidify into a transparent, durable plastic. Transparent resin plastic is commonly used in a process called Stereolithography (SLA), which is a type of 3D printing technology. SLA works by using a UV laser to selectively cure layers of liquid resin, which harden into a solid form. This procedure is repeated layer-by-layer until the complete item has been produced.

When utilised with the SLA technique, transparent resin plastic is extremely useful in producing prototypes, miniature models, and elaborate designs that call for a high degree of accuracy and detail. Also, transparent resin plastic is often used in SLA because of its ability to create clear, transparent objects with a high level of detail.

Specifications

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Minimum Wall thickness: 0.8 mm

Minimum details size: 2 mm (for text/ hole diameters etc)

Layer thickness: 0.05 mm – 0.1 mm

Max dimensions: 600x600x400 mm

Standard Accuracy: ± 0.2% (with lower limit on ± 0.2 mm). Dimensions tend to change with exposure to direct sunlight or another UV source

Properties of materials

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

  • Fine finishing
  • Smooth surface finish
  • Strength and precision: Ideal for rapid prototyping and product development
  • Clear resin has similar mechanical properties to standard resin but can be post-processed to near optical transparency.

Application

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

  • Clear casting resin is designed for deep molds and castings.
  • Use to embed or encase almost any object in crystal clear plastic.
  • Coins, shells, rocks, dried flowers, insects are just a few of the examples of encapsulation possibilities.
